Space Plans
Welcome to the Space Plans section of the ITU website. Here you will find information concerning planned satellite networks. In particular, information related to provisions for space services subject to a Plan under Appendices 30, 30A and 30B of the Radio Regulations. These pages have been prepared to assist a broad range of clients such as administrations, satellite network operators and service providers. The World Radiocommunication Conference 2000 (WRC-2000) revised the Broadcasting-Satellite Service (BSS) downlink Plan and associated feeder-link Plans for countries in Regions 1 and 3. The Conference also created a BSS downlink List and associated feeder link Lists for countries in Regions 1 and 3.
The World Radiocommunication Conference, Geneva, 2003 (WRC-03) revised Appendices 30 and 30A to the Radio Regulations. In accordance with Resolution 546 (WRC-03), the revised Appendices 30 and 30A entered into force on 5 July 2003 with the exception of the footnotes to § 4.1.5, 4.1.15, 4.2.8 and 4.2.19 and the revised Annexes. Those footnotes entered into force on 1 August 2003 and the revised Annexes entered into force on 1 January 2004.
The World Radiocommunication Conference, Geneva, 2007 (WRC-07) adopted the revised provisions and associated Plan for the fixed-satellite service (FSS), as contained in Appendix 30B (Rev.WRC-07). In accordance with resolves 4 of Resolution 149 (WRC-07), the Bureau will use the revised Appendix 30B in its examination of submissions under that Appendix received on and after 17 November 2007, as well as submissions received before but not yet processed at that time.
Any modifications or amendments to the Plans or Lists should be submitted to the ITU-R in electronic format. Submissions under Article 4 of Appendices 30, 30A and 30B shall be based on Annexes 2A and 2B of Appendix 4. For further information, see the FAQ.
